Joe attended Ohio University where he received his Bachelors degree in 2005 and was commissioned to Active Duty as a Second Lieutenant in the Unites States Army as a Quartermaster Officer.
Joe completed the Army Corps of Engineers-NAV FAC Construction Quality Control Management Course in 2013, the Associated General Contractors of America’s Construction Project Manager course in 2013. Joe is a graduate of the Rising Leaders Institute instructed by The Ohio State University Executive Education Fisher College of Business and The Builders Exchange of Central Ohio in 2012.
After his commission, he spent 12 months in Egypt serving as a Support Platoon Leader in charge of 24 Soldiers, responsible for warehouse management, and aviation refueling. Joe was deployed for a 15-month tour of duty in Iraq managing a Ground Vehicle Maintenance Platoon with 80 Soldiers under his command, and a Distribution Platoon with 80 Soldiers, responsible for supply of fuel and ammunition for an Aviation Squadron. Upon return from Iraq, he became Executive Officer, responsible for training and property management of 180 Soldiers. After Joe had completed his four-year obligation and achieved the rank of Captain he chose to separate from the Army in September 2009.
In 2010 Joe co-founded Bluth Companies, LLC, a commercial construction company that focused on government work and held task order contracts with the Columbus Veteran’s Affair’s Hospital and completed projects at many of the Community Based Outreach Clinics. During this time Joe completed work for Youth Advocate Services, Women’s Infants and Children of Clark County, Ruth Wilson Showroom, and Lower Lights Christian Health Center. Joe was responsible for Bluth’s administration of all construction management, general construction, pre-development and company field operations. His project involvement includes business development, estimating, bidding, front-end project management, project supervision and helping clients set realistic goals and then assuring that project goals are met.
In 2014 Joe joined the Brexton Team as a Property Manager. In his time at Brexton Joe has performed duties as a Pre-Development Manager, Pre-Construction Manager, Safety Director, Property Manager and Project Manager/Administrator for Brexton’s new cloud-based Project Management Software. In 2015 Joe became a licensed real estate sales person and was promoted to Vice President of Real Estate and self-storage operations.
Joe is an active member of St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Victorian Village Columbus. In his off time, Joe enjoys running, gardening, and has been a mentor in Big Brothers-Big Sisters for the past 5 years.
